Apply instructional design

Identifies and analyzes learning and performance problems

  • EDCI 672-Advanced Design-Case Analyses

    • In the Advanced Design course, we worked through several case analyses working to understand the learning concerns and problems presented in the case. Within the Lynn Dixon case, some of the challenges identified concerns within the analysis and design phases of the ADDIE model. For instance, one of the concerns involved addressing each type of learner at the aquarium kiosk. In addition, the design concern involved understanding the wide range of material and designing content for the touch screen system. These two concerns presented required a great deal of analyses of potential solutions. Through my work in this program, I was able to propose a solid solution to the case. The solutions included offering an option of the kiosk featuring English and Spanish options. Furthermore; the kiosk would include a beginner (school age) module and advanced (adult/senior) module to support a variety of learners.

Designs, plans and develops instructional interventions using appropriate strategies and techniques

  • EDCI 572-Learning Systems Design-Group Design Portfolio

    • In the Learning Systems Design Course, I worked in a small group to develop a Fakebook instructional plan for middle school students. During this project, we created a comprehensive analysis including a detailed chart showing the objectives and skills these students would achieve through completing this project. We included learning strategies which would allow each student to work both independently and in a small peer group. In addition, this project required students to research a historical figure, pose as that historical feature in a well-known social media platform. This project was my most detailed and complex group project within the program, however; it allowed us all to apply the learning strategies and theories we had been studying throughout the previous courses.

Develops an evaluation plan for a project based on stated goals and recognized standards

  • EDCI 577-Strategic Assessment and Evaluation-Evaluation Plan

    • In the Strategic Assessment and Evaluation course, I had the opportunity to work with the Manager of CSX Intermodal Trainings here in Jacksonville, Florida. She allowed me to evaluate one of their current instructional design courses. For this particular evaluation plan, I utilized the four levels from Kirkpatrick. The goal was to measure the effectiveness of the course as well as the instructor’s ability to properly instruct on CSX safety practices. The evaluation plan ran for about ten weeks. I utilized tools to measure the learner’s knowledge prior to the course, immediately following the course, and later during the time as a terminal manger. One final strategy used in this project was conducting individual interviews where learners could share personal insights following the course.
