Demonstrates ability to read and understand educational literature related to Educational Technology

  • Within EDCI 513, the paper written on increasing motivation and learner engagement allowed me the opportunity to complete significant research on this subject matter including the following:

    • Finding specific resources on learner attitude within a training course.

    • Benefits of e-learning within the work place.

    • Understanding how to tailor information specifically for adult learners.

    • Constantly researching new instructional design technologies to keep learners engaged.

    • Further research needed on understanding how instructional designers can make younger generations feel each training is cutting edge, while helping older generations feel comfortable with “different” technologies.

 

Demonstrates ability to describe fundamental theories of human learning

  • For course, EDCI 531, I was able to tie specific theories to my experience into the development of non-profit organization outdoor training courses. For example, within my final paper I reviewed the following:

  • Relating the self-efficacy theory, and how it connects to a learner trusting their own abilities despite a challenging obstacle.

  • Understanding how learning theories can motivate volunteers, while finding new ways for them to complete a challenging learning experience while feeling guided.

  • Using proper rehearsal and encoding would allow learners to move new information into long term memory.

Applies knowledge of human learning, diversity, and effective pedagogy to solution of problems

  • For course, EDCI 588, it was important to understand the motivation of learners, and how this can translate into effective adult learning. For example, within my major project I understood the following ideas/concepts:

    • Reviewed the Social Cognitive Theory and how it makes learners feel as though they do not need to prove their acquired skills unless they are properly motivated.

    • Through the connection of the ADDIE model, and this developed course, I was able to review critical logistical information in each part of the ADDIE model. This ID form was the biggest takeaway from this project as it fully connect the course to the overall learning experience.
