Demonstrates ability to describe common research methods in Educational Technology
While working within EDCI 513 on the individual paper, I completed extensive research within the field of educational technology. My paper focused on the topic of increasing motivation and learner engagement within the field of e-learning. For this particular paper, I used 15 resources from a variety of places:
-
Current course text books
-
Purdue E-Library
-
Educational Technology websites such as:
Demonstrates ability to read and evaluate Educational Technology research
While researching educational technology, the topic of motivation could be easily researched using our course resources. However; I found current, reputable technology websites were fantastic tools for this paper when citing sources. Based on the research executed within this particular paper, I evaluated the references regarding the ability to increase motivation within e-learning, and then see how that material related to prior experiences. It was important to make the information relevant as well since I am working in the field of motivating adults which can be quite challenging. I was able to review the course resources, and then configured it for my learners.
Applies research findings to the solution of common problems in Educational Technology
One of the problems I found within e-learning is how to properly motivate adults, especially with age gaps. While training technology platforms on e-learning course, there were certain expectations for young employees. At that same time, learners who were seasoned and were familiar with classroom style found this a frightening experience. These resources allowed me to understand motivation tools and how it could help blend these two age groups.
In the future, I will continue to do more research on this topic as I have a passion to blend these two groups as both can learn so much from one another. This course allowed me to identify challenges within the topic of motivating learners. Along the way, I was able to identify a specific concern surrounding generational gaps within technology, and then research possible solutions.
